This is a heads up for all of our AT&T employees.

All AT&T members need to know that the New AT&T is much stricter on improper use of the internet and emailing. There have been instances recently where both management and occupational employees are being disciplined up to and including termination for using both internet and email for non-AT&T uses. Please understand that your email usage is being watched and you should avoid using it for anything but AT&T business. Their policy allows for a minimal amount of personal use, but until we are clearer on what those lines are, personally I don't think it's worth the risk. We will defend anyone who is unjustly disciplined, but be careful. The Company has access to anything you do on the internet or email using their equipment.

Also members around the country are being warned and disciplined over accidents in Company vehicles. This is because the accident rates at AT&T are much higher than in the old SBC areas. Of course, the Union believes that accidents are serious. We believe that there are factors as to the increase in accidents and that AT&T not paying attention to safety over many years may be the issue. There will be a document posted on the national web site on Friday May 4th. It is a job guide and aid for safety practices and reporting procedures. I also believe that management will meet with any members who have access to company vehicles to review the guide. There are also consequences to any accidents that may occur so I urge everyone to read the document.

Some good news on the AT&T side. We are very proud to announce that the daughter of Gennette Desenna in the Fairhaven AT&T call center has won the AT&T/CWA/IBEW Scholarship Award which pays up to $6500 a year. This is actually the 2nd time that one of her children has won the award.
